Medicaid cuts hurting therapy services in Mississippi
Rehab Regs, May 19, 2006
Cuts to Medicaid for PT, OT, and speech therapy in Mississippi are beginning to have an effect on patients, according to the Clarion Ledger.
The state limited the number of therapy visits patients can make, reducing allowed visits by more than 50% in some cases.
Therapists in the state say they are starting to see the results of the cutbacks through slowed progress and regression in some cases, the Ledger reported.
The state is considering looking at how private insurers put caps on therapy and whether there needs to be some type of appeals system.
