CMS clarifies rehab agency regulations
Rehab Regs, May 19, 2006
CMS sent a letter to state survey agency directors on May 11 to clarify its regulations on rehab agencies.
The letter stated that rehab agencies cannot offer occupational therapy (OT) without also offering physical therapy (PT) or speech-language pathology (SLP).
It reiterated that agencies have the option of offering OT but not as a substitute for PT or SLP if they receive Medicare reimbursement.
