AOTA expands driving rehab database

Rehab Regs, February 24, 2006

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) expanded and updated its searchable database of national driving rehabilitation programs last week.

Searching the database allows consumers to determine a variety of program characteristics such as

  • type of assessment and rehabilitation services provided
  • type of clients served
  • type of vehicles (cars and/or vans) with which the program works
  • whether the driving program uses a driving simulator for evaluation and training
  • whether the program provides information/programs on using alternative transportation services in the community

"The additional information will allow consumers and professionals to customize their searches to their particular needs," says Elin Schold Davis, OTR/L, CDRS, coordinator of AOTA's Older Driver Initiative program.

Since launching the Older Driver Web site in June 2004, AOTA has provided thousands of health professionals and consumers with the latest information to promote older driver safety and mobility.
