Deficit Reduction Act awaits President's signature
Rehab Regs, February 3, 2006
The House of Representatives voted 216 to 214 Wednesday to pass the Deficit Reduction Act, according to an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) press release.
The vote sent the bill, which authorized the $1,740 therapy cap and a new exceptions process for people who require excess services, to President Bush, where he likely will sign the bill into law shortly.
Once Bush signs the bill, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be able to announce how the exception process will work.
CMS has been working on the process prior to the official announcement, so details about the process should come quickly, reported APTA.
