APTA calls for CMS to revise study
Rehab Regs, December 30, 2005
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to revise a study that measures the time physical therapists spend on resident care in nursing homes.
APTA expressed concern that physical therapists could be negatively affected by some of the study's proposed requirements. The CMS project, called Staff Time Resource Intensity Verification, is expected to begin in April 2006.
CMS occasionally conducts such studies in skilled nursing facilities to make sure that Medicare payments reflect recent changes in practice and promote quality care.
