NE man dies during whirlpool session
Rehab Regs, October 28, 2005
Gentiva Health Services has suspended one of its healthcare workers after a 44-year-old patient drowned during a therapy session earlier this month, reports KETV7 in Omaha, NE.
Randy May of Lincoln, NE, was a paraplegic who had several health problems and was taking part in a whirlpool exercise. The unidentified healthcare worker left May alone for several minutes and when he came back, May was underwater and dead.
Gentiva is doing an internal investigation of the accident and possible legal and regulatory investigations may occur in the future.
