Organizations celebrate World Osteoporosis Day
Rehab Regs, October 21, 2005
Health organizations all over the world celebrated World Osteoporosis Day yesterday, as therapists and physicians, in conjunction with the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF), stressed the importance of preventing the disease through physical fitness and proper nutrition.
This year's theme was Strong Bones in Healthy Living, and NOF encouraged PTs and OTs to remind patients to participate in their favorite weight-bearing activities. These activities could include running, walking, jumping rope, lifting weights, biking, soccer, and many more.
NOF hosted a virtual fitness day where it encouraged participants to report their activities on NOF's Web site.
