AAHomecare calls for delay in mobility policy
Rehab Regs, October 7, 2005
The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) held a Congressional fly-in October 6 to urge Congress to ask CMS to delay the implementation of its policy on power mobility devices.
While AAHomecare says it agrees with most of the changes in wheelchair codes and the implementation of the new face-to-face regulation, the organization says CMS is rushing to finalize the policy by January 1, 2006.
The mobility device supplier says rushing the new policies will hurt their ability to provide equipment and services, which will affect beneficiary access.
AAHomecare is asking CMS to finalize its changes and then allow at least 90 days for the mobility community to adjust to the new codes and policies. Along with the fly-in, AAHomecare members are asking others to write to their congressman about delaying the Medicare benefit changes.
