Mayo Clinic preaches benefits of cardiac rehab

Proper exercising under a watchful eye is still the ticket to a successful recovery from a heart attack, according to mayoclinic.com. The site says that proper cardiac rehab must include a medical evaluation, physical activity, lifestyle education, and psychosocial support. Though the treatment will vary from patient to patient, most programs last three to six months and must combine the efforts of cardiologists, dieticians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurse educators, psychologists, and psychiatrists. Physical therapists can become specialists in the area, and talking to cardiologists can lead to a good working relationships and multiple referrals.
