Nursing home payments get a bump from Medicare

CMS released final regulations last week that will increase 2006 Medicare payments to skilled nursing facilities by $20 million, according to PT Bulletin Online. Although temporary add-on payments will be eliminated, the agency is adding nine additional resource utilization groups and making other refinements to reimburse facilities more accurately for medically complex cases and reflect variations in non-therapy ancillary service costs, reported the Bulletin.
