Be ready for national Backpack Awareness Day
Rehab Regs, July 28, 2005
The fourth annual National School Backpack Awareness Day, sponsored by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is scheduled for September 21, 2005, according to an AOTA press release. Teaching proper backpack ergonomics is one way occupational therapy practitioners can help students stay healthy and succeed in school. During the day, therapists will weight students and their backpacks to highlight the problem of students carrying too much on their backs, and will also provide children and families with tips to help them "pack it light and wear it right."
