Scrushy wants his business back
Rehab Regs, July 14, 2005
Cleared of fraud charges late last month, former HealthSouth Corp. CEO Richard Scrushy is intent on regaining control of the company he founded in 1984, according to Business Week. The board fired him in March 2003, shortly after the government filed its first complaint against him. According to Scrushy's attorney, he is preparing to fight to regain his CEO post and board role, as well as back pay and legal fees. Jurors acquitted Scrushy of accounting fraud involving a $2.7 billion earnings overstatement, and the 52-year-old was found not guilty on all 36 counts after a 16-week trial and three weeks of jury deliberation, reported Business Week.
