White House revising 2006 Medicare handbook
Rehab Regs, June 2, 2005
The Bush Administration is revamping a preliminary draft of the 2006 Medicare Handbook, according to The New York Times, due to inaccuracies and misleading information. The 106-page handbook will be revised to include more detailed information about the new drug benefit for Medicare beneficiaries and will clarify differences between traditional Medicare and private insurance plans. The current publication lumps together the traditional government-run Medicare program that covers 36 million people and private fee-for-service plans which enroll far fewer members. The final version of the handbook will be mailed to beneficiaries this fall, according to the Times.
