Superman’s Christopher Reeve passes away
Rehab Regs, October 14, 2004
Christopher Reeve, 52, former Superman star and advocate for spinal cord research, died last weekend after suffering a heart attack, according to the Advertiser. Reeve was being treated for an infection from a pressure wound he received from exercise equipment he used daily. The actor was paralyzed nine years ago in a horseback riding accident and credits extensive therapy in helping him regain movement in his index finger in 2000, and later limited sensation in other areas. Reeve also made many public appearances, including visits to Congress to appeal for better health insurance protection for the injured, reported the Advertiser.
