Carl and Clarence ready for rehab
Rehab Regs, September 9, 2004
Carl and Clarence, two-year-old Filipino conjoined twins who were separated successfully in August, are expected to begin physical and speech therapy shortly, according to the [NY] Daily News. The pair shows no signs of brain damage from the landmark surgery, according to doctors and could be walking within four months. They endured four operations over a span of ten months, the last of which required 17 hours of surgery. Doctors say the missing sections of the twins' skulls will eventually be reconstructed using bones from other body parts, such as ribs or hips, as well as artificial bones, reported the News.
