OTAs and kayaks offer greater access to parks

Rehab Regs, August 26, 2004

Four residents of the Southern Worcester County Rehab Center and their three OT assistants spent a summer day kayaking thanks to Project Inspire, according to the Worcester [MA] Telegram & Gazette. Also known as the Initiative for National and State Park Inclusive Recreation Expansion, this federally-funded project strives to physically improve accessibility in parks by helping to make site improvements like curb cuts and wheelchair accessibility. Additionally, the program works directly with people with disabilities by offering structured programs like kayaking. It provides instructors, equipment, and lifeguards free of charge, according to the Telegram & Gazette.
