Middle-aged men are a new fitness focus

Rehab Regs, August 19, 2004

Fitness programs geared toward men 40 years and older are sprouting up across the country, according to the Monterey County [CA] Herald. Exercise programs are generally aimed at young people, and women of all ages, experts told the Herald. But injuries, surgery, and poor health practices over the ages of 40 or 50 make men a primary audience for increased exercise. A 1999 study at Duke University found exercise was as beneficial as medication in treating depression in older men.
