Cancer can’t stop 91-year-old water skier
Rehab Regs, August 12, 2004
Lucille Borgen, of Palm Beach, Florida has survived polio, cancer, and the loss of vision in one eye, but at 91, she is still competing in the annual Water Ski National Championships, held each year near her home. According to The Miami Herald, the former nurse and physical therapy assistant subscribes to the same advice she gave her patients--"Take care of your body, because that's where you live." Borgen still works out with light weights and water skis three days a week. She began skiing competitively at age 46. The American Water Ski Association created the Women's 10 division for entrants age 80 and above and is considering creating a Women's 11 division for her as well, the Herald reported.
