OIG gives a nudge to slow payers
Rehab Regs, July 29, 2004
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a report late last month outlining prompt-pay regulations for payers, and may be helpful to rehab providers who have frequently experience delayed payments. The regulations suggest that payers should pay at least 95% of clean claims within 30 days of receipt, calculate and pay interest on clean claims not paid within 30 days, and pay or deny all claims within 60 days of receipt. The OIG singled out Providence Health Plans for slow payments between 2002 and 2003.
