Line dancing hip for brittle bones
Rehab Regs, July 22, 2004
A twelve-month study at Griffith University in Australia, finds that weight-bearing exercises like line-dancing can stimulate bone mass in healthy individuals consuming adequate dairy calcium and Vitamin D. The study, which involved 39 post-menopausal women, also finds that line-dancing exercises the hips, which improves balance and muscle control, and ultimately guards against elderly falls, according to the Sunday Mail [Australia]. Line-dancing was chosen for the study because it appeals to many people and can easily be incorporated into a community-based program.
