Occupational therapy occupation booming
Rehab Regs, July 8, 2004
Occupational therapy programs across the state are experiencing job placement rates as high as 100% for graduates, according to the Kansas City [Mo] Star. Likewise, occupational therapy assistants are in demand in hospitals, adult day care centers, school districts, vocational rehabilitation programs, home health agencies and nursing homes. Approximately 18,000 occupational therapy assistants hold jobs nationwide, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The field is expected to grow much faster than average through 2012 because of aging baby boomers, advances in physical rehabilitation, and an increase in the number of individuals with disabilities.
