Rural rehab patients benefit from home visits

Rehab Regs, June 17, 2004

Doctors who make house calls may be few and far between, but in rural areas of the United States some therapists regularly visit patients who live far from hospitals, according to the Aberdeen [SD] American News. In rural clinics, a physician from a nearby city typically visits once a week. Services like physical and occupational therapy are available every day either at the clinic or in a patient's home. Clinic workers believe that these rural services are needed, especially for senior citizens who may not be treated otherwise.
