PTs promote Congressional IDEA support
Rehab Regs, April 15, 2004
When Congress reconvenes next week, it is expected to take up legislation to reauthorize federal programs for children with disabilities. The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and other organizations representing rehab providers are encouraging the Senate to ensure physical therapy and other related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are adequately funded and provided by qualified personnel. APTA anticipates a vote on IDEA as early as May 4 and is urging members to contact their senators and ask them to support the reauthorization bill.
