Children hit a therapy grand slam
Rehab Regs, March 11, 2004
As spring approaches, mentally and physically challenged children in Powdersville, South Carolina are getting ready for a banner year, according to The Greenville [South Carolina] News. The Wren Youth Association's Challenger Baseball League gives children with special needs an opportunity to increase their confidence and social skills while playing the game, and also doubles as a physical therapy exercise. Players are encouraged to participate regardless of their limitations and are assigned buddies from other Little League teams. The league grew from 18 players to 56 last year and is open to boys and girls ages 5-21.
