Ohio passes direct access legislation

Rehab Regs, February 13, 2004

Patients in Ohio who need physical therapy services will now experience easier availability due to direct access legislation passed February 3. Ohioans join residents from 38 other states who have also adopted direct access in some form. According to the American Physical Therapy Association, the bill allows for therapy patients to see a physical therapist without having to get a referral from their physician beforehand. The new law will go into effect on May 3. Visit http://www.aota.org/news/news_releases/ohiodirectaccess for more information.
