ASHA welcomes new association president
Rehab Regs, February 6, 2004
Beginning this year, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in Rockville, MD, has a new president--Lawrence W. Higdon, MS, CCC-A, an audiologist and 34-year member of ASHA. During his tenure as president, Higdon, also an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Communication Disorders at the University of Mississippi, plans to address reimbursement, service delivery in schools, and the doctoral-level teacher shortage in the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology. Additionally, Higdon plans to explore ways to collaborate with organizations and associations that have common interests with ASHA for the benefit of both members and consumers. Higdon has served on ASHA's executive board since 1994.
