Canadians rubbed the wrong way by fraud

Rehab Regs, January 23, 2004

In December, the Insurance Bureau of Canada released its list of last year's top ten insurance frauds, estimated to cost the average Canadian at least 15% of his or her premium, although bureau administrators call this a conservative estimate. According to CanWest News Service, included on the list was a massage therapy clinic that had been filling out false claim forms for accident victims seeking physical therapy. Patients were receiving one session of treatment and then the clinic would bill the insurance company for three. The owner of the clinic was accused of a range of fraud charges, according to CanWest.
