Entertainer’s recovery slow but steady
Rehab Regs, January 16, 2004
Eight months after a near fatal stroke, rhythm and blues singer Luther Vandross is living in a New York rehabilitation center, working toward his goal of attending the February 8 Grammy Awards presentation in Los Angeles, according to the Biloxi Sun Herald. Vandross, 52, is undergoing intensive physical therapy to relearn how to walk, occupational therapy to regain skills such as dressing, and speech therapy to help both his memory and his focusing abilities. Before the stroke, Vandross was preparing to promote his most recent album, shoot a video, and go on tour. Recently, his family gathered at the rehabilitation center to celebrate Christmas together.
