HealthSouth trial postponed until August

HEALTHSOUTH TRIAL POSTPONED UNTIL AUGUST U.S. Judge Karon Bowdre has postponed the corporate fraud trial of HealthSouth Corp. founder Richard Scrushy until August 23. The trial was expected to start this past Monday. Proceedings have been delayed twice because both U.S. prosecutors and Scrushy's lawyers have said they wouldn't be ready in time, according to the Chicago Tribune. Scrushy was indicted for money laundering, conspiracy, securities fraud, and other charges related to his alleged role in a $2.7 billion accounting fraud involving HealthSouth. However, on Monday, Scrushy did win a bid for relaxed travel restrictions while awaiting trial on bond, according to the Tribune.
