A: Once you understand the RAC process, it is quite a bit easier to identify potential rehab issues and begin the monitoring and auditing process to ensure that your facility is in compliance.
Connolly Healthcare, the Region C RAC, posted seven CMS-approved issues for automated reviews for South Carolina (www.connollyhealthcare.com/RAC/pages/approved_issues.aspx). South Carolina was the first state in Region C to complete the provider “town hall” meetings, which was a CMS requirement prior to beginning reviews. All the current issues pertain to hospital outpatient and physician services.
