California doctor indicted for fraudulently billing PT services

Mark Thomas Paskewitz of Pasadena, CA was indicted October 22 for fraudulently billing Medicare for about $2.3 million in PT services, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office alleges massages provided by unlicensed personnel in Paskewitz’s clinic were billed to Medicare as PT services provided by him or qualified personnel under his supervision. According to the press release, Paskewitz is charged with 18 counts of health care fraud and is scheduled for arraignment on November 10. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 10 years in federal prison for each count of fraud.
