Arkansas SLP sentenced to six years in prison for Medicaid fraud

Rehab Regs, August 15, 2008

An Arkansas SLP who pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud and failure to maintain patient records was sentenced to six years in prison and was fined $274,611, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported August 5.

An Arkansas county circuit court found that Anna Walthall billed Medicaid for more than $68,000 of pediatric therapy services she didn’t provide between August 2004 and May 2006, according to the Gazette. An Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services audit discovered that many of Walthall’s patient records were missing or incomplete and Walthall had no documentation for 16 of her clients.

A judge suspended half of Walthall’s sentence, contingent upon payment of the entire fine.
