CMS announces winning durable medical equipment suppliers for competitive bid program
Rehab Regs, May 23, 2008
CMS announced Wednesday the 325 winning suppliers that will provide medical equipment and supplies for Medicare beneficiaries in the 10 communities participating in the first round of a competitive bidding program.
The durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) competitive bidding program was mandated by section 1840 of the Social Security Act, which requires competitive bidding to replace the current DMEPOS fee schedule for certain items in certain areas, according to the CMS Web site.
The program begins July 1 for 10 jurisdictions, including Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Miami, and Orlando, FL. The full list of jurisdictions and the winning suppliers can be found at the Medicare.gov Web site, or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE.
