Fall-related deaths spike in Massachusetts
Rehab Regs, April 11, 2008
Massachusetts experienced a sharp rise in fall-related deaths among the state's elderly in 2006, reported The Boston Globe. The increase is so dramatic that public health authorities are reviewing death certificates to look for explanations.
In 2006 alone, 341 people died from falls, which is a two-thirds increase from 2005. Advocates and state investigators are looking into a number of reasons for this ranging from the weather to medication, according to The Globe.
