Therapists receive a six-month reimbursement extension

Rehab Regs, January 11, 2008

Under the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007, therapists will receive a .5% increase to the physician fee schedule conversion factor for service between January 1 and June 30, 2008, according to an American Occupational Therapy Association press release. Effective July 1, 2008, the 10.1% cut in reimbursement will take effect.

CMS is extending the decision period for an additional 45 days, running through February 15, 2008. Therapists who are interested in becoming a participating provider must complete the CMS-460 form. The form was mailed to providers in November in a CD-ROM format, according to the release.
