Therapists to benefit from bill
Rehab Regs, December 21, 2007
Good news for therapists: Congress passed The Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007 (S. 2499) on December 18 and 19. The bill is currently waiting for President Bush to sign the legislation into law. The final bill includes the following updates to carry therapists for the next six months through June 30, 2008:
· An extension of the Medicare therapy cap exceptions process
· An extension of floor on work geographic adjustment under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule to 1.0
· An increase of 0.5% to the Medicare reimbursement rate, which replaces the planned 10.1% cut
· An extension of the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI)
