Senior myotherapist helps other senior citizens

Noted author Bonnie Prudden is an 88-year-old myotherapist who has a message of rejuvenation to spread. For years Prudden has been visiting senior citizens and telling them that they can reclaim their active lifestyle by using myotherapy--muscle therapy--to achieve this goal. She teaches her patients the art of finding trigger points, or hot spots, in their muscles and shows them how to apply pressure to eliminate them. Prudden also instructs them on how to make sure that the pain does not return. Usually her patients only need to see her four or five times. Often the trickiest part is finding the patient's trigger point. To aid her, she uses a metal rod shaped like a shepherd's staff. To apply the right amount of pressure she uses her own invention called a bodo, a three-inch wooden stick with a wooden plate on the end, she told the Associated Press.
