CMS publishes NPI notice
Patient Financial Services Weekly Advisor, June 29, 2007
CMS published the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) data dissemination notice in the May 30 Federal Register.
The agency had previously released a display copy.
The notice details how covered entities can access provider data from NPPES and specifies that some information--including providers' Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and taxpayer identification numbers--will be unavailable from the system.
The NPPES data will be available for download 30 days after the notice's publication in the Federal Register, on June 28.
