Florida Hospital promises emergency-room patients an hour wait

Patient Financial Services Weekly Advisor, June 1, 2007

Florida Hospital is promising emergency-room patients less than an hour wait to see a physician at two of its Central Florida campuses, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Officials at Florida Hospital began advertising the "promise" on May 1 on billboards and in community publications.

So far, the campuses have kept their promise 85% of the time, according to Florida Hospital spokesman Rich Morrison. "We're close to 100 percent, other than weekends," Morrison told the Sentinel.

The Altamonte Springs campus expanded its emergency department and the Apopka campus streamlined its procedures to help the system keep its promise.

Florida Hospital officials expect to extend the promise to each of its seven campuses.

"Everyone knows they have a clear goal," Morrison told the Sentinel. "It's something you have to commit to, to make it happen."
