Wal-Mart set to open as many as 400 retail clinics
Patient Financial Services Weekly Advisor, April 27, 2007
Bad news for providers: Wal-Mart Stores announced plans this week to open as many as 400 in-store health clinics over the next two to three years, reports the Washington Post.
Wal-Mart also said that if the first push of clinics is a success, it may open as many as 2,000 over the next seven years.
Wal-Mart called the program an effort to develop "customer solutions to America's healthcare crisis."
Wal-Mart also plans to include a $4 generic drug prescription program and to support comprehensive healthcare reform by 2012, reports the Post.
