Study: Consumers embracing retail clinics

Patient Financial Services Weekly Advisor, April 6, 2007

A recent Market Strategies, Inc. study revealed that more consumers are ready to transition to retail clinics to receive preventive care and more complex treatments.

The 2007 Retail Clinics Revolution Study targeted 600 retail clinic users and 900 potential users. The study found that consumers find convenience to be the most critical factor when choosing their care.

The study also found that consumers who use retail clinics are generally open to the idea of using clinics for a wide variety of treatments.

Additionally, 30% of consumers would like to see retail clinics compete with physicians to offer more diagnostic services.

The study concluded that retail clinics are a significant threat to hospitals, as well as other healthcare suppliers.
