Pfizer provides drug discounts to Medicare beneficiaries
Patient Financial Services Weekly Advisor, July 9, 2004
Pfizer announced July 7 it will offer a flat $15-per-prescription fee to qualified Medicare beneficiaries as well as discounts to uninsured low-income families.
Pfizer-the world's largest drug company-said its initiative will focus on helping the 43 million uninsured Americans get Pfizer drugs at deep discounts.
The move is a response to the escalating cost of healthcare, which has encouraged Americans to buy their drugs from outside of the United States.
Pfizer said low-income Medicare beneficiaries on all Medicare-approved drug discount cards will have access to many Pfizer drugs for the $15-per-prescrption flat fee after they have exhausted a $600 credit, Reuters reported.
Working families making less than $45,000 will save an average of 37% on Pfizer drugs, the company said.
Enrollment is set to begin in August.
