CMS issues ICD-10 transition tips and timeline

On September 5, CMS issued in the Federal Register the final rule that officially extends the ICD-10 compliance date to October, 2014. With this, all HIPAA-covered entities must transition to ICD-10, including providers and payers who do not deal with Medicare claims. If this compliance date is not met, claims for all services and hospital inpatient procedures on or after the compliance deadline cannot be processed.
