Business continuity is critical when a disaster or other event that disables any organization's ability to continue to provide critical services occurs. The HIPAA Security Rule requires covered entities (CE) and business associates (BA) to develop, implement, and regularly test a disaster recovery plan and an emergency mode operations plan (i.e., a business ­continuity plan).
