CMS posted a new version of the lab NCD manual for the first quarter.
CMS publishes changes to the 2012 OPPS and MPFS final rule,
On January 4, 2012 CMS issued two transmittals containing the January 2012 OPPS updates. CAHs should review these transmittals for guidance on preventive services, drug administration and physician supervision of diagnostic and non-diagnostic outpatient services. In addition, CMS also published technical and typographical corrections to the Medicare physician fee schedule final rule.

CMS issues interim final rule requiring the adoption of a standard for electronic funds transfers
On January 10, CMS issued an interim final rule with comment period implements parts of the Affordable Care Act which requires the adoption of a standard for electronic funds transfers (EFT). It defines EFT and explains how the adopted standards support and facilitate health care EFT transmissions.
CMS reminds providers about HPSA bonus payments
CMS published a special edition MLN Matters Article that reminds physicians who furnish services to Medicare beneficiaries in areas designated as a primary care geographic Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) as of December 31, 2011, are eligible for a 10% bonus payment for services furnished from January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2012.
