ACO participation comes with new risks for compliance officers

The government wants to save money on unnecessary healthcare costs through ACOs, and it provides financial incentives to providers, suppliers, and hospitals who team up to provide quality care to Medicare beneficiaries and lower costs. The government, through ACOs, also encourages organizations to invest in and redesign infrastructure and care processes. ACOs are a part of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act.
