CMS publishes Shared Savings Program waivers final rule
On November 2, CMS published an interim final rule in the Federal Register that would waive certain fraud and abuse laws in order to carry out the Shared Savings Program.
CMS publishes 2012 premiums, coinsurance, deductibles
On November 1, CMS published three notices in the Federal Register to set various premium, deductible, and coinsurance rates for 2012.

OIG publishes a report on Medicare’s responses to adverse events in hospitals
On October 31, the OIG published a report which states that the agency found that Medicare missed opportunities to address patient safety in its response to alleged serious adverse events, such as medication and surgical errors, physical abuse by hospital staff, and patient suicide.
