On September 2, HCPro released an article summarizing CMS’ bundled payments initiative launched by the newly created Innovation Center.
On August 30, CMS issued a transmittal to update Chapter 40 of the Provider Reimbursement Manual, the Hospital and Hospital Health Care Complex Cost Report, (Form CMS-2552-10).
Effective date: Changes to the electronic reporting specifications are effective for cost reporting periods beginning on or after May 1, 2011.
CMS revised a previously-released transmittal.
CMS released several MLN Matters articles related to previously-released transmittals.
On September 2, CMS issued a transmittal to announce changes that will be included in the October 2011 quarterly release of the edit module for clinical diagnostic laboratory services.
On September 2, CMS published a transmittal that describes changes to and billing instructions for various payment policies implemented in the October 2011 OPPS update. Critical access hospitals should review this transmittal for guidance that applies to both prospective payment and cost based reimbursement systems (i.e. units of drugs, nuclear medicine procedures, condition code 44).
