CMS instructs on ICD-10 billing, processing
On August 19, CMS issued a transmittal to provide instructions and guidance on reporting, claims submissions, and date span requirements for ICD-10 effective October 1, 2013.
Effective date: October 1, 2013

On August 19, CMS issued a transmittal to implement updates to the integrated outpatient code editor (I/OCE).

On August 19, CMS issued a transmittal to make its annual update to the clotting factor furnishing fee. For dates of service January 1, 2012, through December 31, 2012, the clotting factor furnishing fee of $0.181 per unit is added to the payment limit for the clotting factor.

CMS instructs on coverage of MRIs for beneficiaries with pacemakers
Effective for claims with dates of service on or after July 7, 2011, CMS believes that the evidence is adequate to conclude that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) improves health outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries with implanted permanent pacemakers (PMs) when the PMs are used according to the FDA-approved labeling for use in an MRI environment.
Effective date: July 7, 2011; February 24, 2011 (CR 7296)
Implementation date: September 26, 2011
