AHA comments on Medicaid RAC proposed rule

On December 20, the American Hospital Association (AHA) issued a letter to CMS containing comments on the Medicaid RAC proposed rule. Some highlights of the recommendations of the AHA include:
- Exempting states with Medicaid Integrity Programs (MIPs), Medicaid managed care program or other Medicaid audit programs from the requirement to establish a Medicaid RAC program.
- Issuing a revision to the proposed rule that will incorporate problems that were identified and addressed in the Medicare RAC demonstration program.
- Urging CMS not to limit the education efforts to the RAC process.
In addition, the AHA addressed a number of specific areas of concern that CMS should adjust in the final rule.
